Especially for those in the later years of their life, there will be children and grandchildren (maybe even great-grandchildren) who adore you and want to hear your wisdom and stories. Starting a journal which you’ll one day pass on filled with memories and anecdotes can be a great way to spend your time, documenting your life for younger generations to read and letting you relive the best moments of your life. For those who love writing, you could even try to write a full autobiography, but, if you want a smaller challenge, why not just try to write down everything you can remember about key moments in your life like your wedding day, the day your children were born and travel stories?

Spend more time with loved ones
Due to the pandemic, it’s been harder than ever to spend time with loved ones over the past few years. So, in 2022 why not try and prioritise seeing them face-to-face? Whether it’s family or friends you want to spend your time with, it’s the perfect time to try and make plans to see one another and catch up. In the social media age we live in, it can be easy to feel as though you’re up-to-date with people’s lives without having to see them but the mental health benefits of real-life interactions cannot be duplicated through a screen and it can be rewarding to make time for others in your day-to-day life.
Improve your home
Our homes should be our palaces, places where we feel safe and comfortable but for many, this isn’t the case. For those in their forever home, taking the time out in 2022 to improve the space can be extremely rewarding and is a hobby you don’t need to leave the house for. What’s more, you might even find yourself starting a new hobby, from woodworking to decorating, as you go. If your home doesn’t work for you, try and find ways to fix problems.
